The generator puzzle needs two power sources and a final control
Starting one generator will not open the underground security door. The Terrible Lizards chapter 2 generator puzzle requires both side-cavern generators, followed by an action in the Foreman's Tower. Finish those three parts in order to open the route into the trailblazing tunnels.
That sequence comes from Stella's instructions and the subsequent actions in FusionZGamer's full-release player experience. It concerns the original dig-site gate near the beginning of Chapter 2. The official Terrible Lizards Steam listing is the full-game reference; a demo route should not be treated as an exact replacement for this release sequence.
Follow the side-cavern cables and clear the temporary doors
Call Stella after entering the original dig site. Jordan can see an elevator shaft but no usable elevator, so she directs him toward another route. The security door is deliberately powered off, and the two generators are in the side caverns.
Explore the passages off the main area and look for the power cables. The release narration explicitly identifies a cable as a clue leading toward a generator. Use these visible connections to guide your search through the cave routes rather than continuing to press the unpowered main-door control.
The generator route includes auxiliary doors that open temporarily after you press a button. Before activating one, identify the door and the nearby traversal route. Then press the button and move through the opening while it is available. The recorded route uses climbing, jumping, and a low passage as part of these sequences.
Start the generator when you reach it, then use the available route back toward the central cavern. Complete the other side-cavern generator as well. Returning after only one leaves the opening power objective unfinished.
A useful way to track the job is:
| Check | What it resolves |
|---|---|
| First side-cavern generator running | One part of the door's power supply |
| Second side-cavern generator running | The remaining generator requirement |
| Tower's main control activated | Opens the powered security gate |
Return to the Foreman's Tower and open the main gate
Once both generators are running, return to the Foreman's Tower in the central area. Stella gives 0451 as the tower-door code in the full-release recording. Enter it at that door, checking the corresponding dialogue or objective in your own game.
Go inside and operate the main door control. In the recorded player experience, the narrator returns after the generators, identifies the control between the indicators, presses it, and then continues through the main door.
The important distinction is between supplying power and using the door control. The generators handle the first job; the tower handles the second. If you have finished the side routes but are still waiting in front of the security gate, go back to the tower rather than assuming the gate should open automatically.
After the control opens it, leave the tower and proceed through the main security door. That completes this puzzle. The repaired keypad, flooded arena kill switches, and later dynamite objectives are separate Chapter 2 stages.
FAQ
How many generators do I need to start?
Two. Stella specifically identifies two generators in the side caverns. Both are required before the final tower-control step.
What is the Foreman's Tower door code?
Stella gives 0451 in the full-release player experience described here. Use it at the tower door, not at a later Chapter 2 keypad.
Does the security door open automatically after the generators?
The recorded route requires returning to the Foreman's Tower and activating the main control. Starting the generators alone does not complete the sequence.
Are the three emergency kill switches part of this puzzle?
No. They belong to a later Bronto encounter involving standing water and downed electrical cables. This opening puzzle uses two side-cavern generators and the tower control.
